Last night a cricketer was tortured by the police. Heard he was beaten up. Was there an attempt to make him disappear? It is said that even after identifying himself, the OC and his men were not kind to him.
In the context of this incident, all professional cricketers have stood by the tortured cricketer. Not only cricketers; many online activists have also strongly condemned this incident. Although, standing by an oppressed person is very natural.
.
All cricketers have posted on their Facebook accounts strongly condemning this incident. They have demanded a fair investigation. Among them was Taskin Ahmed. He first mentioned this in his post while strongly condemning the incident—
"If a cricketer is not safe in his own country, then it is natural for questions to arise about the safety of ordinary people."
This line of his was good. But, after a while, he edited the post and deleted this part.
Why?
For what reason?
Does that mean protest, objection, and condemnation are only for well-known people and celebrities of the country? Is speaking for the common people a crime?
This is sure, Taskin did not edit this by himself. He was made to edit it. The purpose of getting it edited is clear.
No matter how much you say, the country is safe, the people are safe, these are nonsense. The people of the country are not safe at all. And freedom of speech? It has not returned yet. Just as there was no freedom of speech during Hasina's time, there is none now. If there was, Taskin would not have had to edit this.
Anyway, you and I are tenants of this country. The common people have no value of two annas in this country. No one will ever speak for you. Even if someone wants to speak from a humanitarian perspective, they will not be allowed to speak.
Bangu country, Bangu law, Bangu democracy.
